India Part 3

This was my shortest trip to India but I still seemed to cram a lot of interesting stuff into a 2 week period. There of course was NISAR testing going on throughout. The most interesting event that we got to participate in was Indian Independence Day. India gained its independence from the British on Aug. 15 1947. We got to celebrate with ISRO where we attended a party. There were speeches, dances, and snacks.

Everything that day was made with the colors of the Indian flag, saffron, white, and green. Seeing all the ways the colors could be incorporated was impressive.

Aside from the Independence Day, I was also able to see a few more sights around Bangalore that I hadn’t been before. There was the Tipu Sultan summer palace as well as KR market. Walking in between the two was the Bengaluru Fort. Each offered some interesting views on both historic and modern Bengaluru.

The KR market was a busy and overwhelming experience. Every inch was packed with people either selling or buying. There were stands and tarps laid out everywhere selling everything thing you could imagine from food to clothing to electronics to knick knacks. The market itself was in and surrounding what felt like an abandoned mall. Inside the mall was a mix of open shops and derelict corners. Perhaps people were living there as well as the odd cow inside. At the basement of the mall was the proper flower market where huge chains of flowers were being strung together. You could buy many vibrant arrangements here of all shapes, colors, and all by weight.
